The
fashion event of the year did not fail to give audiences their fashion
fix, from amazing clothing, famous faces and beauty treatments.
DESIblitz were also on hand to pick out the best tips for fashion-loving
men.So let’s get straight to the fashion. All the high street brands
were out in full force showcasing their winter collections. Dominating
the runways were fur, leather and lace, and most importantly, patterns
and prints. Not only were high street brands being showcased, but young
and up and coming designers were out to present their collections. New
designers such as Vivian Nwonka and Siobhan Vondy heated up the runway
with their Ankara printed collection, shirts, tees and jackets. We spoke
to some of the Asian males and asked how they felt about these prints.
One group said: “We loved the prints, a bit daring for us but would
definitely try it on a night out!”It seems that Burberry’s Autumn/Winter
2009 inspired print is making a huge comeback amongst these small
designers. These prints will surely pull you out of a crowd and will
certainly be a top pick for the fellas. The annual Fashion Theatre Show
kicked off with a great bang; it included everything from in-between
scene changes, entertainment, celebrity prize give-aways, and gorgeous
models. The show itself was split into an impressive 8 scenes, more scene
changes than ever showcased before, which of course meant plenty of
clothing for our viewing pleasure! The first scene titled ‘The Arrival’
featured outerwear. The main theme for this part of the show was
heritage clothing; the clothes resembled both Vivienne Westwood and
Burberry, bringing that designer look to the high-street.
Keeping
in touch with these season’s trends, capes, fur and prints were at the
focus. Our top picks from this collection were:The second scene was then
introduced as the ‘The Spa’ which was a sports luxe theme. This was a
high fashion spin on sportswear. Within this scene there was a blend of
many materials and cuts. The main focus was on masculine clothing, and
saw cropped t-shirts for men.Inspired by designers such as Alexander

and spin it on its head making it a more fashion forward look. The
oversized jersey t-shirts were also making a statement on the runway,
made up of a meshed fabric mixed with bold prints that caught everyone’s
eye.During scene 3, the show slightly darkened with a gothic inspired
collection from Zara, New Look and designers such as Sofia
Metsoviti.Keeping true to this season’s trends, and inspired from
Valentino’s Autumn/Winter 2013, the clothing demonstrated how dark and
edgy punk style can be interpreted into luxurious and glamorous fashion
wear.To achieve this look all you need to do is keep it simple and dark,
mixing fabrics such as leathers and furs. Don’t be scared to get out of
your comfort zone! The show also got a splash of Hollywood, the gender is

with a Gatsby inspired collection from Chanel and Dior, which flooded
the runway with gold 1920’s glamour. What was very inspiring as a viewer
was the blend of Roman and Grecian style with this classic American
look. The final scene for the show – and our personal favourite – was the
80’s inspired party theme. This part of the collection was all about
bold colours, cropped attire, and sequined pieces that will make you the
centre of attention on any high street or night out.
Men
it is time to come out of your comfort zone and take a risk. Stop
playing it safe and go all out with bold colours, eccentric prints and a
flare of 80’s fashion. For all the men who attended over the 5 days,
their main consensus of the event was positive.Let’s hope that Tamara

Most agreed that the show opened their eyes to styles and trends they
would never usually go for. One gentleman said:“Being Asian you aren’t
always exposed to styles and trends of this kind, growing up in our
family we would always follow the style from all your friends and
family. It really makes me want change up my swag.”In a nutshell,
Clothes Show Live has shown that men’s fashion on the high street
doesn’t need to be restricted to simply jeans and a jumper. You can
venture out of your comfort zone and be daring. So to be fashion forward
your main guidelines are to mix your material, go large and daring with
your prints and just have fun.
